The Mets pitching staff struggled as a whole in 2025, leading to their collapse and missing the postseason.Druschel was with the Yankees from 2022–2024. In his time with the Yankees, the pitching staff as a whole ranked top 10 in the MLB all three years, including the best in baseball in 2022. Druschel is known for helping pitchers, specifically relievers, change their pitch shapes to make them successful. One of Deuschel’s biggest success stories was Luke Weaver, who went from one of the games most reliable and lockdown relievers in 2024 to struggling nightly in 2024, including struggling with tipping his pitches. Deuschel’s impact on the Yankees pitchers was missed in 2025, and the Yankees hope that a reunion in 2026 will fix some of the issues in the staff.Deuschel is the first addition to the Yankees coaching staff that is set for major changes after coaching changes and potential managerial hires to come.
