Did Boone cost the Yankees the game?

The Bronx, NY — Yanks lose a heartbreaker last night after Mark Leiter Jr. gives up a 2-2 pitch for a Grand Slam.

The Yankees were in command of this game, with a 4-2 lead, heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, when Tim Hill entered. Hill gave up a double, an unlucky RBI single, and a 1-6 forceout.

Boone then got cocky and went to Mark Leiter Jr. His reason was because he wanted Ketel Marte to bat from the left side, and not the right side against a lefty.

We all know the better choice in this situation would have been to stay with Hill because he can get ground balls and he doesn’t give up homers.

Instead, Leiter Jr. comes in, walks two, strikes out Naylor and gives up this COOKIE to Suarez.

That was the bad from this game. There was a lot of good from this game as well. The Bottom of the lineup (5-9) had good at bats all day against Burnes, including 2 homers off Burnes (Dominguez and Volpe) and 1 off the bullpen (Rice).

Wells also took a 13-pitch walk to get Burnes into a jam, and later scored on a Josh Naylor E3.

Other than that, the game was boring. Will Warren pitched very well, and the only blemish was the Home Run to Corbin Carroll.
