Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler issued a statement late Wednesday afternoon, amid criticism from fans across the AL East on his social media page.

I love the city of New York because there’s no organization or fan base I’d rather be a part of.” Schlittler posted on X. “I feed off those high and demanding expectations. — it’s something I learned growing up around the Boston area.”

Schlittler has noted in his short time as a starter for the Yankees how his upbringing in a suburb of Boston, with a dad who is a police chief, modeled him in discipline.

There’s that blue-collar mentality back home, where success only comes through hard work and dedication.” Schlittler added. “That’s the Boston mindset: growing up in a proud city surrounded by championships. I feel that same sense of pride here in New York and am eager to deliver results for the fans who put their faith in this team.”

Cam Schlittler shoved in his first postseason start, firing eight shutout innings, racking up 12 strikeouts, in the Yankees 4-0 win over the Red Sox in ALWCS game 3, sending the Red Sox home.

Schlittler, and the Yankees, stated that prior to the game, some members of Schlittler’s family were being attacked on social media. As a response, Schlittler shoved that night for the Yankees, and went on a little X posting spree.

Schlittler issued this statement seemingly to put an end to the personal attacks on his family from Red Sox fans.

The Red Sox should get used to Schlittler, because October 2nd, was not and won’t be the last time they face the Yankees Young Stud.
