Notes on the 2026 Spring Training Schedule

TAMPA, FLA — The New York Yankees have announced their 2026 Spring Training schedule. Below are some notes:
The Yankees will play 33 spring training games in 2026, with 16 contests scheduled at George M. Steinbrenner Field and 17 on the road. Their slate includes matchups with every AL East rival, featuring four games each against the Orioles and Blue Jays, and two apiece versus the Red Sox and Rays.
New York opens its spring campaign on February 20 with a road matchup in Baltimore before returning to Tampa for its home opener on February 21 against the Detroit Tigers. Fans will have plenty of weekend baseball, as eight of the 16 home games fall on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
The spring features two split-squad dates: March 15 (vs. Detroit and at Baltimore) and March 19 (vs. Baltimore and at Toronto). The Yankees will also square off with the Red Sox twice — March 4 in Fort Myers and March 18 in Tampa. Baltimore, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Toronto appear most often on the schedule, with four meetings each.
A unique highlight comes on March 3, when the Yankees host Team Panama at Steinbrenner Field as part of the lead-up to the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The club will also take part in MLB’s Spring Breakout event on March 21, hosting the Atlanta Braves’ top prospects.
A brief trip to Florida’s east coast is set for March 7 at Washington and March 8 against the Mets. The Yankees’ final home tune-up takes place March 22 vs. the Phillies.
Spring training concludes with a notable west-coast swing — two road games against the Chicago Cubs on March 23-24 at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona. Those contests will mark New York’s first spring action in Arizona since 1951, when they swapped training locations with the New York Giants — the Yankees trained in Phoenix and the Giants in St. Petersburg that year.
