The Offense/Defense

The Yankees offense had two big innings, the third and the fourth. The third feature a game-tying three-run homer by Bellinger o give the Yankees some life. Then, the Yankees benefited by two Rays errors in the fourth inning to score three more runs. After getting retired in order (11-straight), Anthony Volpe hit an absolute bomb for a homer and his second RBI of the night.

The other story was Volpe's bad defense. Volpe now has 15 errors on the season after committing two today, costing the Yankees 2 runs, and almost the game in the ninth inning.

Starting Pitching Analysis

Bullpen Usage

Loaisiga was the first out of the 'pen and got a 3-3 groundout to end the seventh. Then, Boone left Lo' in the game and he put runners on first and second, no outs before getting a 6-4-3 DP and a foul out to McMahon to hold the score. Williams came out for the ninth inning, and gave up one run after a triple and a 5-4 GO. Williams got squeezed by the up and screwed by Volpe committing his second error of the night. Williams could not locate the fastball, but was able to get Aranda to swing at it to strike out and end the game.
