EAST RUTHURFORD, NJ -- New week, same results. The Giants are keeping the tank on in their quest for the number one pick in the draft, with their latest loss. This week, they fell to the Vikings 16-13, falling to 2-13 on the season.
Abdul Carter was the story in last week's loss with his breakout game. While he had some good moments today, his neutral zone infraction in the second quarter after what should have been an interception returned for a touchdown. That would have changed the outcome of this game.
The Giants defense continued their pure ineptitude in the fourth quarter this season. I don’t recall ever seeing a defense so incapable of getting a fourth quarter stop.
After the Giants tied the game at 13 with a field goal, the Vikings marched right down the field. Safe for Bobby Okereke tackle, keeping the Vikings to three points, it would have been worse.
The Giants had a shot to tie it or even take the lead, but this is the Giants, why would that happen. Jaxson Dart did take a bad sack on 4th and 3 to turn the ball over. It just never ends. He finished the day 7 of 13 (53.8%) for 33 yards.
The offensive line also was bad today. While Dart was not himself once again today, there were multiple passes that were dropped by both Theo Johnson and Darius Slayton. Dart’s final numbers are not indicative of his performance, it was also on his horrible offensive line.
Notably, the Giants offense did not throw the ball much at all today, and did not learn that running the ball was not going to work. Mike Kafka’s play calling was horrific once again.
The tank is still on for the Giants.
