Giants axe Head Coach after Four Seasons

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — After four seasons as head coach of the New York Giants, Brian Daboll has been fired, sources confirm.
Daboll joined the Giants in 2022, and lead them to the postseason for the first time since 2016. Since then, the Giants took a massive step back, beginning each season with a 2-7 record.
This was a long time coming for the Giants, and should be one that gives an impact. Prior to the 2025 season, the thing that save Daboll’s job was they did not have their franchise quarterback. The Giants selected Jaxson Dart with the 25th pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart took the league by storm, and was one of the best rookie quarterbacks this season. The Giants still could not put together wins.
The feeling in the meadowlands is the consistent lack of positive performance on the field is not a roster issue, but a coaching issue. The consistent underperformance from the Giants has been puzzling because there is talent on the roster, but it’s not showing. From the inconsistent play calling to horrible staffing decisions, it was simply time.
The Giants are doing something now that most have feared, firing the head coach while trying to develop their franchise quarterback. This should not have, and didn’t affect the teams decision to fire Daboll. There are other offensive guru coaches that should be able to develop.
Daboll finishes his Giants tenure with a record of 20-40-1, second worst in the NFL since 2022.
Daboll is fired after another fourth quarter collapse. The Giants were 0-4 when leading by multiple points in the fourth quarter this season under Daboll.
The Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka will take over as interim manager.
GM Joe Schoen’s job is safe, for now.
More to come.
