Giants Defense Fails Again, Lose to Packers

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- New week, new head coach, same story. The Giants can't find a way to close out games against middling defenses. This week, the Giants lose 27-20, and drop to 2-9 on the season.
The story of this one is again the Giants defense. They could not get a stop to save their lives. Shane Bowen's defense late in games needs to be studied for years to come on what not to do.
The highlight for me was this play in the fourth quarter on third and long. The Giants left Packers QB Jordan Love open, and he mad an unbelievable throw, and lead to the eventual game-winning touchdown.
Abdul Carter noticeably did not play the first snap of the game. "It was my decision, we'll keep the rest of that in house" Interim coach Mike Kafka said. "I'm really happy about Abdul. Excited to watch him continue to grow and continue to play a lot more as a pro"
On the bright side, the Giants offense was solid. In the third and fourth quarters, they did a great job putting together sequences to get down field.
Jamis Winston was ok, not great. The Packers dropped at least four potential interceptions, which was a story throughout the day. The one interception -- came on the game-ending drive in the endzone and it was good night the lights.
"Timing and execution is so important in this game." QB Jamis Winston said. "When you don't have the reps with some of your teammates, you've got to capitalize on those moments and continue to work even harder"
"I really wanted to win for these guys"
"Simplicity to me, finishing out as a team." Said Winston. "All of us collectively can do one small thing to continue to get better"
Winston and the offense was especially good on the run game, and they were able to move very well down field. The issue for the Giants still came in the red zone on both sides of the ball.
At least Brian Burns leads the league in sacks with 13, a new career high.
The good news -- Jaxson Dart could be back next week, but Kafka did not want to commit yet. "I don't want to get too far ahead on that, I know he's still in the protocol so we'll play it as the protocol goes". Until then, get ready for another topsy‑turvy week of listing to rumors on new head coaches and who is fired after their latest debacle.
