BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox have promoted top prospect Roman Anthony from the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, according to sources. Anthony has excelled at the Triple-A level this season, posting a .288 batting average, .4423 on-base percentage, and .879 OPS over 58 games.

Speculation regarding Anthony’s call-up had grown in recent days. Red Sox manager Alex Cora told WEEI Boston, “He’s not knocking on the door, he’s knocking it down,” in reference to Anthony’s performance. With the team struggling, the timing of the move aligns with efforts to turn around their 2025 campaign.

Boston has won two straight games and entered the month of June with a 4–3. The organization is hopeful that Anthony’s arrival can energize the clubhouse and help spark a winning stretch.

The Red Sox have placed OF Wilyer Abreu to the IL.
